There are shelters for women and children. There are shelters for men. But in this world today there are few places a family can turn to when they have no home to keep their children warm. Because of the turbulent economy, more and more families are finding themselves living in tents or in their cars. Together, we can give families a warm place to stay and a warm bed for their children.
We Appreciate Your Help, and so does a family!
OUR MISSION
Agape is a Greek word that means selfless, parental type love. As a Christian, the founder, Lynn Hardy, could think of no better word to describe the loving assistance given to families with children who are in need.
Recent economic events forces the working poor to live paycheck-to-paycheck. Many struggle to hold down two or three jobs just to provide the basic necessities for their families. A single financial crisis like an injury, illness, a job lay-off or family breakup can cause people to lose their housing.
Agape Assistance's programs are a hand up, not a hand out. Hard work and commitment are required from the homeless families served. In return, Agape Assistance provides safe, clean, and modern shelter, nutritious food, comprehensive counseling services, and job and housing searches. The programs ensure that the community's most vulnerable members have the opportunity to return to self-sufficiency and a place they can call "home".
OUR PARTNERS
Agape Assistance has joined with C.A.T.C.H. to providing housing and support services that create opportunities for homeless families so that they can re-establish self-sufficiency and to return to permanent housing.
CATCH is an acronym for Charitable Assistance To Community’s Homeless. CATCH is also a verb which means to keep from falling. The City of Boise covers all of the administrative costs of CATCH operation, which includes the case management of CATCH families. This means 100% of donations received goes directly to helping homeless families with children get back up onto their feet.
Boise's CATCH program has been recognized as a national model by the oldest and largest association of municipal governments in the United States. It was one of eight cities selected to receive the prestigious Awards for Municipal Excellence at the National League of Cities’ (NLC) in 2008.
Other cities across the USA are ready to start a CATCH Program, but donations received by CATCH must be used in the city of Boise. With your help, Agape Assistance will provide a way for CATCH to be started in a town near you.
